First of all, learning theory supports that the best learning takes place in spaced trials. This means that if you are going to spend 6 hours studying, you will learn more and learn it better and retain it longer if you study for 30 min per day for 12 days rather than for 6 hours the day before the test. So start early and then review it every day.
Second, quiz yourself. Make a short list of the questions or material that you think will be asked. Can you answer every question? If it is a map, could you make the map without looking?
Third, could you explain the information to someone else? The saying is that “teaching makes the best learning.” That is because teaching requires that you rephrase and explain material. One way to do this is to ask one of your parents to let you “teach” the material to them 0r a study buddy. Or you could write down an explanation of all of the areas to be tested as if you were teaching it.
Third, make sure that you get a good breakfast and plenty of sleep before the test. Also, eat a peppermint (during the test if possible) or right before the test. That sounds crazy but they really are supposd to help.and I have known teachers to give their students mints.
