How to tell if a “original” item on ebay is real or fake.?
I have been searching on ebay for original antiques from 18th,19th century and ancient egyptian. How can I tell if this “original” item is the real deal or just a good replica. There is a few items that I want to buy but they say the words very rare but the price is usually low, not ridiculously low just what I consider low for what is said to be rare or very old.
So what are some ways to tell.
Send an email to seller asking directly if the item is antique or a replica. If seller ignores your question ignore the seller. Check seller’s feedback. Feedbacks of 10 or less seem to create most problems.
Ebay just updated their policy on counterfeit items to increase buyer’s protection. Always pay with a credit card on PayPal. This will give you an extra line of defense if things go wrong.
And of course go with your gut feeling. If somethings seems not right don’t buy.
