What is the vortex in the middle of the World Map of WoW?
If you look at the world map in World of Warcraft, there is a vortex-like thing in the middle of the great sea. What is it, and can you actually swim to it?
It is the Maelstrom, and you cannot get to it currently as far as I know.
It is where the first well of eternity destroyed itself in the Sundering in WoW lore. The world used to be one giant continent, and then the Sundering happened, the well exploded, and Azeroth became what it is now.
I’m not going into too much detail because I don’t want to bore. But that’s the gist of it.
